D243/244 & T3–Chiwala Roads Rehabilitation (56km)

The project involved the rehabilitation of 15km of D243/244 and 41km of the T3 road from Copperbelt Energy Substation to Chiwala. It covered detailed engineering designs including alignment verification, terrain condition studies, and alternative design assessments using satellite imagery. The scope also included preparation of tender documents, Employer’s Requirements, and procurement planning. Supervision responsibilities extended to drainage construction, sub-base works, QA monitoring, contractor compliance, and relocation of utilities. Environmental and social safeguards such as resettlement plans were also monitored, and a comprehensive quality assurance manual was developed to guide supervision and performance checks.

• Phase I – Concept Design Review: Reviewed topographic maps, alignments, and terrain conditions. Verified control points, checked town sections, and proposed measures for problematic areas like landslide-prone and swampy regions. Prepared tender documents and Employer’s Requirements.
• Phase II – Construction Supervision: Verified surveys, geotechnical reports, hydrology, and material sources. Approved engineering drawings and ensured compliance with standards. Monitored contractor works, utility relocations, resettlement actions, and established a quality assurance system.
